Hello, and welcome to the award winning ‘Learn to Shine' Montessori styled school and consultancy. Here, you will find opportunities for your child to access specialist teaching, parent coaching and empowerment,
'Shine outside' field trips, Art tworkshops, EHCP advocacy and total holistic support for each individual. I am a fully qualified, DBS verified teacher and Educational consultant, with over 17 years of teaching and supporting families and students. I left
the safety of my job in mainstream teaching and middle management to create a high-quality solution to the lack of provision for children with special educational and behavioural needs.
I started my journey studying for a BA honours Art
degree at Central Saint Martins, and the London College of Communication. Since then I have worked continuously as an artist and school teacher. I specialise in teaching Art to Primary, Secondary and Adult Education
levels, but also in teaching all curriculum ('Topic') subjects to children with SENs and as a pastoral leader to over 360 children. In the height of the pandemic I witnessed many children and families
suffering with regression of speech, especially my autistic families. I decided to undertake training in SALT (Speech and Language Therapy) and OT (Occupational Therapy) for which I obtained a 'High Distinction' and in 2021 I successfully completed a MSc in
Psychology (specialising in SEN) which has enormously supported my work.
I have extensive experience of working with and supporting children with Autism, PDA, foetal alcohol syndrome (FASD), Selective Mutism, ADHD, general learning difficulties,
Dyslexia, complex emotional and behavioural difficulties, with significant results. Unlike in busy classrooms, where your child can be lost in the crowd, it is essential to me that your child is nurtured as an individual, and given
the tools to be able to shine for the rest of their life. I offer family advocacy for EHCP's, SEN screener assessments and specialist teaching. I also offer teacher training, ADHD and ASD coaching for adults. Please take the time if you can,
to have a look at my parental testimonials if you wish to have 1:1 education for your child, improve your child's life skills and career pathways on a Shine Enrichment course, or contact me if you would like to discuss available Art
workshops for adults. I offer on site 'Make it Outstanding' pupil portfolio enhancement workshops in schools, and offer teacher training to enable your lessons to shine! I have worked with Excelsior
Safeguarding CIC as the lead SEN consultant and currently advise Talent management group The YMU group on neurodiversity. I am often interviewed for magazines and radio stations to raise awareness of the unique nature of those
with special educational needs and strongly believe 'knowledge is power'.
In the pipeline is the development of our 'Learn to Shine; Let me Shine' support accessories, dedicated to helping your child be better understood by the public when
they face challenges such as work and busy social arenas. Please keep checking the NEWS tab for updates on how this can help your child!
Everything I do is based around the love of supporting children to succeed, and I created 'Learn to Shine school
CIC' around the birth of my own little boy and girl. I know how hard parenting can be, and the challenges families face in the world of education, so place your trust in me to help you navigate through the jargon!
Since it's inception in 2017 Learn
to Shine has gone on to win multiple awards on each year of opening including; 'Business Woman of the Year, Women in Education, Women in the Creative Arts and 'Mumpreneur of the Year', in the Kent Women in
Business Awards, and the 'Inspire' category, in the NATIONAL MPower Business awards which was mindblowingly exciting! My passion is to enable every child, including my own, to be able to Shine, and this is my ever driving
Finally, to ensure I NEVER have a moment free, I am also writing and illustrating my first children's book in dedication to my beautiful first born son Artie 🙂 Keep an eye on my 'News' page for future updates!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has supported 'Learn to Shine' so far! x
